Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) participated at the 73rd IATA Annual General Meeting (AGM), World Air Transport Summit held in Cancun, Mexico where 1,000 industry and business leaders along with member airlines’ senior management gathered to review key issues relating to the aviation industry. Representing THAI was Mr. Krittaphon Chantalitanon, Vice President of Alliance & Commercial Strategy, on behalf of Acting President, Mrs. Usanee Sangsingkeo.
The IATA meeting this year adopted a resolution “reaffirming the airline industry’s commitment to safety and security and called on closer collaboration of governments to meet the challenges of aviation security, endorsing the efforts of ICAO to establish a Global Aviation Security Plan (GASeP) for enhanced clarity, simplicity, and ICAO’s global standards for security”. The IATA AGM also approved a resolution calling on governments to “accelerate the deployment of sustainable alternative aviation fuels (SAF) and to implement the Carbon Offset and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) with sufficient time for airlines to implement.” A third IATA resolution adopted was to “accelerate the modernization and transformation of the air cargo industry, as a result of the World Trade Organization’s (WTO’s) Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA), for making trade faster, cheaper, and more efficient.”
